The Yard
The Yard is a new workspace and community cafe in Bruce Grove, Tottenham. In partnership with award winning architecture and design practice IF_DO, Street Space delivered creative engagement activities over a six month period to enable young people and local creatives to shape the development of 551b High Road. As part of our engagement approach we recruited two local young people to join our engagement team as young producers to support with engagement and outreach.
Despite 2020 lockdown restrictions we built a dynamic communication platform with around 300 residents and a standalone identity for The Yard, co-designed by the young producers. Gathering the views of 150+ residents and local businesses we created a series of insights to shape the purpose, look and feel of the new space and to ensure that it represents the ‘real’ Tottenham for people who’ve lived in the area their whole lives.
