Crossing the Threshold

From March to September 2024 we were commissioned by Bradford 2025 to carry out an in depth listening exercise with audiences living close to Lister Park to understand barriers to and perceptions of Cartwright Hall. Our conversations, curated over a number of community settings with a wide range of community members, explored what might entice local visitors to ‘‘cross the threshold.

After gathering insights to share with the team at the City of Culture we developed a series of low cost prototypes to test over the short and long term. In August we installed a playable route to better connect the popular playground with the Hall with a series of clues in English and Urdu and activated the main entrance with an eye catching balloon arch.

We had a very positive experience of working with Street Space- they were thorough, organised, collaborative and creative and communicated well with us throughout
